• Water Flow & Usage

    Sample loading calculations:

    MLS 100 DustCAP® (Self Metering)

    • Flow Rate 40 GPM @ 100 PSI

    • 40 GPM x 60 min/hr. = 2,400 GPH x 8 hr/day = 19,200 gal/8 hours 19,200 gal/ 8hr = 2400 gal/hr used

    • Water = 8#/gal x 40 GPM = 320#/minute

    Suggested dilution rate:

    • 2000 - 1, Recommended for mines with silica dust problems.

    • 2400 gal/hr / 2000 -1 = 1.2 bars / operating hour

    • If a machine is operating for 4 hours / shift, the usage would be about 4 bars / shift

    • One bar soap = 900 grams or 2# / bar 450 gr/# conversion factor. Actual usage is about 1 bar / hour

    • A 9 bar Continuous Miner unit will operate 8 hours and must be refilled with three or four bars

    • A 22 bar Longwall unit will operate for 8 - 10 hours before refilling is required.

Note: These are approximate usage rates that depend on site-specific conditions, i.e. water flow rate, water flow rate through the dispenser, equipment operation run-time, desired concentration, etc. The concentration will fluctuate as usage and conditions fluctuate. MLS 100 DustCAP® is effective over a range of concentrations.
